Flagons and fragments

Flagons and fragments of flagons, mostly unmarked or from makers in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, discarded at Ringstead in the 1920s. By that date, flagons were gradually becoming defunct, being replaced by a variety of more hygienic containers. They turn up in dumps from the 1920s-50s increasingly, although they were still used at that date for home brewing and for carrying drinks such as cider into the fields at harvest time.
