Plain white ceramic trinket box lid, with the remains of a handle or ring holder (in the shape of tree roots/ branches) to the rear. A nest of mice has been disturbed by two cats. On the left the cat is missing. Its rear paws were on the tree, its fore-paws on the ground. The clump of mice being worried by this cat is also damaged. In the foreground, more to the right, a second cat is facing a single mouse that has broken away from the others behind it. A ridge around the underside allowed the lid to sit atop a ceramic box. Found amid London rubbish dumped on the Essex marshes.
